Pelhřimov – The architectural competition for the construction of a new Sports Hotel and the cladding of the neighboring ice hockey stadium in Pelhřimov was won by the Prague-based Studio Boele and its authors Pavel Fajfr, Petr Šuma, and Dara Vitudanish. The jury selected from seven proposals. This was the first architectural competition organized by the city. The public will have the opportunity to view the proposals on Wednesday. Andrea Unterfrancová informed ČTK about this on behalf of the Pelhřimov city hall.
"The main goal is to ensure the necessary comfort not only for the citizens of the city but also to support the development of tourism and simultaneously increase the attractiveness of sports in Pelhřimov,” said the mayor of Pelhřimov, Ladislav Med (ODS), who was the vice-chairman of the competition jury.
The winning proposal calls for a hotel on the site of a building constructed about 50 years ago as a hotel, which is currently serving as a hostel.
The hotel in the proposal is extended to the dimensions of the ice hockey stadium, making the entire building more compact. The entrance area of the stadium is supplemented in the proposal with a balcony. "The jury's final recommendations for refining the winning proposal suggest that a quality building, which will serve well to all those for whom it is intended, including the operator, may emerge based on the competition results,” said the jury chairman, architect Radek Kolařík.
The second place was taken by the team Studený architects, which the jury appreciated for its pragmatic approach and low cost. The third place went to the team from the DESTYL studio in Prague, which impressed the jury the most with its approach to the building's energy solution.
The public presentation of the proposals will take place on November 16 at 4:00 PM in the Pelhřimov cultural hall Máj. The city has allocated 1.2 million crowns for prizes and awards in the competition.
There is a lack of accommodation capacity in the city, said Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Jaroš (TOP 09) earlier. Therefore, the city had a small study prepared some time ago, which, during the modernization of the Sports Hotel, worked with options for renovation or demolition and construction of a new building. Costs were estimated at approximately 70 million crowns. Participants in the architectural competition opted for the demolition and construction of a new hotel in their proposals.
