Prague - The shape of the planned Depo Zličín station on line B of the Prague metro will be chosen by the public transport company (DPP) in an architectural competition. The results of the competition will be known this April, with construction set to begin in 2026. DPP spokesperson Aneta Řehková announced this today. The architect for the station will be selected by the company through Metroprojekt, which will announce the competition. Depo Zličín will be the 62nd station of the Prague metro. The exact costs of building the station are not yet clear. Previously, the A line was extended in the same way to Depo Hostivař station.

"In the past, metro stations were built as showcases of the city. The handwriting of the architect and artist can be felt in the stations. And with this care, we approach those that are not yet built. Our goal is that, in addition to providing quality services for passengers, the new terminal station also represents quality from the perspective of architecture, materials used, and detail solutions," said Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague Ours).

The station will be above ground with two tracks and a side platform. It will be created on the slope on the northern side of the Zličín depot track, parallel to Sazovická Street. The vestibule will be oriented to the east. The entrance will have automatic sliding doors. To the south, the platform will be open, and passengers will be separated from the depot's tracks by only a glass wall. The northern part will consist of an outer shell with glass walls with blinds. Only the northern platform will be used for boarding and alighting. In the future, however, it will be possible to add a second platform.

The competition will invite six architectural studios to present their designs. The winner will be chosen by a committee composed of experts as well as representatives from the city council, DPP, and Metroprojekt. The start of construction is planned for 2026, during which the construction of a P+R parking lot for 500 vehicles will also begin in Zličín. According to earlier statements from DPP, the costs are estimated at 1.4 billion crowns.

About 18 years ago, the company built the above-ground metro station A Depo Hostivař in a similar manner. It emerged as part of the depot from one of its former halls. It was opened in May 2006.
