Třebíč - A seven-member jury will select the winning design for the new fountain in Třebíč's Karlovo náměstí. The architectural competition has been prepared by the town hall in cooperation with the Czech Chamber of Architects. Representatives of conservationists and water technology manufacturers will advise the jurors, said Deputy Mayor Marie Černá (Třebíč my home) to ČTK. The value of the fountain is expected to be around four million crowns and it will be built as part of the planned revitalization of the square.
According to the Deputy Mayor, the design can be either sculptural or architectural, but its creators must submit it by May 21. The assignment documentation does not limit the appearance of the future fountain in any way. However, the fountain should suitably enhance the character of the surroundings and represent the city, Černá stated. At the end of May, the jury will meet for the first time to discuss the designs, which will also include city architect Zdeňka Vydrová from Litomyšl. The jurors will also evaluate the durability of the fountain and the efficiency of its operation. "We would like to decide on the winner by the end of the semester,” Černá said.
Třebíč has been intensively preparing the revitalization of Karlovo náměstí for the last three years in connection with the necessity of replacing utility networks under the square. The Brno atelier RAW has developed a study for the city, in which it proposed placing two fountains in the eastern and western parts of the square, which will be addressed by the planned competition.
