Třebíč - In the architectural and artistic competition for the design of a new fountain in Třebíč's Karlovo náměstí, 27 proposals have been submitted. The judging committee will convene for the first time on Friday, Třebíč city architect Jaroslav Hulín informed ČTK. The competition was organized by the city hall in cooperation with the Czech Chamber of Architects. The fountain, valued at around four million crowns, will be constructed as part of the planned restoration of the square.

Among the judges is the city architect of Litomyšl and Tišnov, Zdeňka Vydrová, art and architecture theorist Rostislav Koryčánek, and architect Ondřej Císler, who leads his own studio at the Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University (ČVUT). Together with others, they will evaluate not only the aesthetic quality of the proposals but also the technical solutions, durability, and operational efficiency of the future fountain. The prize for the winner of the competition is 80,000 crowns. In total, the city wants to distribute 200,000 crowns in prizes among the competitors.

Třebíč has been intensively preparing the revitalization of Karlovo náměstí for the last three years in connection with the necessity to replace the utility networks under the square. The Brno studio RAW prepared a study for the city, in which they proposed to place two fountains in the eastern and western parts of the square, which is addressed by the architectural competition. Deputy Mayor Marie Černá (Třebíč my home) previously stated that the city would like to know the winner of the competition by mid-year. However, according to Hulín, the announcement date has not yet been set.
