Praha 3 selected the design of the upcoming senior residence from Projektil architekti

Prague – The planned senior home on Pod Lipami street will be designed for Prague 3 by the studio Projektil architekti, which won the architectural competition. ČTK was informed about this by the spokesperson of the city hall, Zuzana Křížková. The new building will be constructed on the site of the current home, which, according to the local government, is insufficient in capacity and technology.

According to the visualization of the winning proposal, the current two-story building will be replaced by a structure with four above-ground floors. The capacity of the new home is expected to be about double, with 50 beds, according to earlier information. In addition to the residential part, the new facility will include a day center and a multipurpose hall or café. The local government estimates the costs at 120 million crowns excluding VAT.

"We want to offer new capacities and significantly improve the quality of residential care for seniors. We wish for the new facility to be open and to bring added value to its surroundings. Therefore, it will also include a multipurpose hall, and the design also considers spaces for a café, a hair salon, and a medical office,” said the deputy mayor of Prague 3, Ondřej Rut (Greens). The city hall is now commissioning the winning studio to prepare the project documentation for the construction.

In the first round of the competition, 23 applicants entered, from which a jury composed of representatives of the local government and independent architects selected five studios that prepared competitive proposals. The second place was taken by Pavel Hnilička Architects+Planners studio, and the third by Schindler Seko architects. According to information from the local government, the jury appreciated the cultivated and appropriate solution of the proposal, the layout of rooms with the possibility of placing beds by the windows, the overall clarity and accessibility of the common areas, and the landscaping around the building.

Prague 3 recently also selected the winner of the architectural competition for the design of a new kindergarten on Jeseniova street, which will also replace the current unsatisfactory building. At the beginning of the year, the city hall also announced the winner of the artistic competition for the design of a water element, which will be located at the historic staircase from Táboritská to Chelčického street, where a water pump used to stand.
