SŽ presented the winning design of the high-speed rail terminal Kořenice-Bečváry

Kutná Hora - The Czech Railway Administration (SŽ) today presented the winning architectural-urban planning design for the transfer terminal of the high-speed rail line Kořenice-Bečváry in the Kolín region. The winning design by the Czech studio Boele impressed the jury with its transport solution and sensitive integration into the landscape between the municipalities of Kořenice, Pučery, and Bečváry. Construction is expected to begin around 2030. This was reported by SŽ spokesman Dušan Gavenda in a press release.

"The terminal will be located on the high-speed line from Prague to Brno, specifically in the section between Poříčany and Světlá nad Sázavou. Due to its location, it will become an important transfer point between high-speed and regional transport, improving connections from the Kolín and Kutná Hora regions to the capital as well as other parts of the country,” stated the director of the high-speed rail construction administration SŽ, Jakub Bazgier.

According to SŽ, the winning design meets the requirements of the competition in urban planning, architectural, transport, and landscaping aspects. The jury appreciated the balanced ratio between functionality, technical feasibility, and economic efficiency. "The architecturally striking building with terraced divisions will connect directly to the bus terminal and to a pair of underpasses to the platforms. The transportation scheme will be clearly and transparently organized - bus stops will be located on the northeast side of the site, and a P+R parking lot with a capacity of 280 spaces will be situated in the southwest," SŽ stated in the press release. The design also includes facilities for cyclists and pedestrians. The terminal is expected to handle up to 3,900 passengers daily on the high-speed line, primarily heading toward Prague. Over 1,500 of them are expected to transfer to the connecting conventional railway, and approximately 2,150 people to buses.

The authors submitted 11 designs to the competition, all of which can be viewed by the public until July 7 in front of the Central Bohemian Gallery in Kutná Hora.
