Žďár nad Sázavou - Architects in Žďár nad Sázavou will propose how to better modify the area around the House of Culture. The architectural competition will concern 1.1 hectares of city land with lawns, greenery, paths, and parking lots. The town hall expects to receive proposals by the end of this October. The mayor, Martin Mrkos (STAN, for Žďár-living city), said this to reporters today.
The House of Culture is located on Dolní Street, in the area between the main road and the river. "The space is quite neglected, its best days are behind it. At the same time, it is a space located in the broader city center," said the mayor. He added that people are not very attracted to spend time there, and they mostly pass through from behind along the bike path that runs along the Sázava River. "The space lacks some kind of intimacy, as it is quite expansive," Mrkos said.
The architectural competition will cost the town hall half a million crowns. The assignment will be finalized next month. Mrkos anticipates that the public could become acquainted with the results in December or early next year. The city plans to carry out modifications to the area around the House of Culture and the adjacent land in the long term, but according to the mayor, it has other investment priorities for next year. He stated that it is necessary to have a plan ready in case it becomes possible to apply for grants for such projects.
