Lead Dusan 2006

"Lead Dušan" has been a competition at the Faculty of Architecture for thirteen years now. The word "competition" may not be entirely accurate. The real "competition" usually takes place a bit differently; first, you read the assignment, then you ponder whether to actually apply, you pick up the conditions, and then you need to meet the submission deadline.
There is a certain analogy here too - you sign up for a studio - you choose an assignment or it will be assigned to you, and then you have to submit it on a specific day by noon at the end of the semester.
But the fundamental difference is that you do not register for the "Dušan competition" - you are signing up for a studio project.
And then it "happens" that during the two weeks when the projects are displayed, a jury composed of experts, usually at night, walks through the school – like this year, it was – Professor ŠIK, Architect JIRAN, Architect KUZEMENSKÝ, Architect MATULA, and Architect VENCLÍKOVÁ.
Over two days, they go back and forth through the studios, photographing projects that caught their attention, and then they deliberate for a long time, and then they nominate – both individuals and studios.
This year, the nominated and selected were IRENA MACHANDEROVÁ, VOJTĚCH KAAS, LAIA IBANEZ ALABADÍ, PAVEL NOSÁL, ALEŠ REISKÝ.
And from the studio – the studio KOUCKÝ-LISECOVÁ, ŠÉPKA-HÁJEK.
Then the jurors deliberate one more time, and finally, after about a month of reflection, when all the projects have settled in their minds, they select the winner.
This year, the winning project was HOLEŠOVICE by IRENA MACHANDEROVÁ.
A synonym for all the projects this year could be the word "COHERENT" – and this is just one of the observations from the jury.
