Prague - The National Gallery is preparing a retrospective exhibition of František Kupka, Jiří Kolář's artistic diary from 1968, or a major exhibition of the influential Austrian painter of the 20th century, Maria Lassnig, for next year. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia and the 50th anniversary of the August events of 1968, a new arrangement of the permanent exhibitions will be created in the Trade Fair Palace. Other institutions will also commemorate the anniversary. The Gallery of the Capital City of Prague will, in turn, showcase previously unpublished photographs by Josef Sudek from 1945, and part of the Slav Epic will be exhibited at the Municipal House.
The Prague City Gallery is preparing, in addition to exhibitions following its long-term focus, two international projects. One will showcase the works of two contemporary Chinese artists, Zhang Xiaogang and Wang Guang, who represent characteristic poles of unofficial art - one poetic, the other engaged and critical. The second project will bring the work of architect Santiago Calatrava closer to the Czech audience and will also feature his paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
