Tábor - The famous villas and buildings of sculptor František Bílek and architects Theodor and Milada Petřík are featured in an exhibition that started today in Tábor. The Hussite Museum prepared it for this year's significant anniversaries of these creators associated with the city and southern Bohemia. Pavla Tůmová from the museum informed ČTK about this. The exhibition will be open until October 6. It is part of the project Traveling with Famous Architects in the South Bohemian Region.

Born in Chýnov, František Bílek (1872 - 1941) is known as a sculptor, graphic artist, applied arts author, and symbolist of the secession era. November marks the 140th anniversary of his birth. The exhibition in Tábor presents Bílek in a less well-known role as an architect. The artist designed a building with a studio in Chýnov, as well as a villa in Prague. He also designed various pieces of furniture and entire apartment interiors, and he also designed other buildings, said the exhibition's author Oldřich Janota.
The architects Theodor Petřík and his wife Milada Pavlíková - Petříková are both from Tábor. Architect and professor at the Prague Technical University Theodor Petřík was born 130 years ago. Several buildings based on his designs were also created in Tábor, ranging from the adaptation of the city savings bank and projects for school and research complexes to family houses and agricultural buildings, said Janota. According to Petřík's design, the Hýlačka lookout tower was also constructed in 1919, which burned down last year.
