Ceske Budejovice - Photographs of the most significant buildings constructed in Ceske Budejovice in the 1960s can be seen in the spaces of the Ceske Budejovice city hall. An exhibition focused on the architecture of this era has begun there. It reminds visitors of objects such as the swimming stadium, the factory on Prague Street, the Juvel restaurant, or the residential complex Voříškův dvůr. This was stated by the deputy mayor of Ceske Budejovice, František Konečný (ANO).

According to him, the architecture of Ceske Budejovice from the 1960s is exceptional, but the public tends to forget about this phenomenon. "Many people perceive buildings constructed after World War II as negative. Yet they are incredible things. For example, just look at the buildings around Juvel. They have their depth and exceptional style," said Konečný.

According to experts, a timeless building from the 1960s is the Ceske Budejovice swimming stadium, designed by architect Bohumil Böhm. The pool is covered by a suspended cable roof in the shape of a hyperbolic paraboloid. "This project really stands out above the rest and is in a way avant-garde," said Konečný, who is originally a construction engineer. Therefore, from a professional perspective, he admires the factory on Prague Street the most. "At the technical high school I attended here in Ceske Budejovice, we even painted this house. It is wonderfully designed for its time, both in terms of usage. There was a cinema downstairs and a café on the top floor, but neither of those functions anymore," he said.

The exhibition titled Architecture of the 1960s in Ceske Budejovice can be seen in the city hall chamber until Saturday. Afterwards, the exhibition will move to the corridor on the 3rd floor of the city hall, where it will remain until the end of 2017.
