The exhibition of works from the architectural competition REVIT OPEN 2011 LIVE DEPOT KOŘENOV was inaugurated on April 24 with the announcement of results and the presentation of awards. The 5th anniversary edition of the team competition for students (and recent graduates) in architecture and civil engineering culminated in a festive evening and opening ceremony. This anonymous competition is organized by Autodesk together with the Modeling Project Cabinet of the Faculty of Architecture at CTU (MOLAB).
The task for this year's edition was to create a design for a temporary multipurpose hall with service facilities in the area of a former depot and turntable at the train station in Kořenov, located on the border of the Jizera Mountains and the Krkonoš. "The competition task aimed to show that fragments of industrial architecture inspire young creators," said the organizers of the competition, Dana Matějovská and Ivana Vinšová from the MOLAB cabinet of the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague. "In this year's edition, we also reflected with the students on how much people need a place where they can meet. A simple hall with minimal facilities is essential for social life. But a hall at a train station? Why not!"
This year's competition was won by Ing. arch. Jiří Žid, a graduate of TU in Liberec, with a design for a mobile hall assembled in a railway wagon. The depot in Kořenov could be one of his cultural stops. In second place was a team of students: Bc. Marek Šnyrch, Bc. Hana Typltová, Bc. Petra Grísová, and Bc. Josef Veselý from FA VUT in Brno. Third place was awarded to students Bc. Vladimír Genšiak and Bc. Tomáš Chuděj from FSv STU in Bratislava.
The ongoing exhibition also features awarded works from previous editions and is a jubilee retrospective. The comparison of the development of works and various themes is also very interesting and inspiring for all visitors.
