Světlá nad Sázavou - The Railway Administration announced an architectural and urban planning competition for the design of two railway bridges that will be on the planned high-speed rail line (VRT) near Světlá nad Sázavou in the Havlíčkobrod area. The bridges will span the valleys of Sázavka and Sázava and will become new landmarks in the landscape, said the spokesperson for the Railway Administration, Dušan Gavenda, today. The deadline for submitting proposals, according to the public procurement bulletin, is until June 6.
The bridges on the line will significantly influence the character of the landscape. "Therefore, when evaluating the proposals, aesthetic and landscape solutions will also play a role, as well as the ability of the bridges to become a natural part of the surrounding nature while also creating a strong visual identity for the entire area," stated Jakub Bazgier, director of the high-speed rail construction administration.
The competition is announced as anonymous, one-phase, and open. The assignment has two parts. The project part will primarily define the specific form of the bridge constructions, their shape, technical solutions, and overall appearance. In the ideation part, participants will focus on the integration of the bridges into the landscape, the Railway Administration reported.
The first bridge will be 535 meters long. It will lead approximately 43 meters above the ground over the valley of the Sázavka stream, the road to Habry, and over the current railway line Kutná Hora – Světlá nad Sázavou. The second bridge will span the Sázava and the line from Světlá nad Sázavou to Havlíčkův Brod. This bridge will be 400 meters long and up to 44 meters high.
Across the Vysočina region, there will be a new railway stretch of over 80 kilometers that will allow the connection of the region's center to the VRT system between Prague, Brno, and Ostrava. Last November, the Railway Administration stated that it would pay 579 million crowns for the high-speed rail project between Světlá nad Sázavou and Velká Bíteš, and the contractor has already been selected.
On the new railway, in addition to the fastest express trains traveling at speeds of 320 kilometers per hour, other trains will also operate to serve smaller towns along the route. This will enable the connection of high-speed and current railways. Details about the VRT project can be found on the website.
