Venice: Councilors are considering the possibility of raising the city by a meter against the sea

Venice - The northern Italian city's municipality is considering the possibility of raising the foundations of buildings to protect them from the devastating impact of floods that threaten the historic city several times a year. Today's edition of the newspaper La Stampa reports on the project named Rialto.
The study, developed by two specialized Italian design firms, assumes that the foundations of Venetian buildings would be raised about one meter relative to the current average sea level. The raising of the foundations would be ensured by a series of pistons, which would replace the pylons.
Raising each building would take about a month, as the pistons would operate at a speed of one centimeter per hour, and for eight hours a day. A special structural system would ensure the stability of
