Otrokovice – The complete reconstruction of the children's playground near the clinic in Otrokovice in the Zlín region will restrict pedestrian movement in the coming weeks. Work is set to begin on Wednesday, July 15, with the city hall anticipating the renovated playground to open around mid-September. The city's investment will reach approximately 7.7 million crowns, said Otrokovice city hall spokesperson Lenka Vaculová in today's press release.
According to city representatives, the new playground will offer more attractions, increased safety, and a more pleasant environment for children and their parents. "The playground near the clinic is among the most visited in the city. Families from a wide area come here daily, which is why we want to provide a space that is safe, modern, and also offers children plenty of opportunities for play and movement. I believe the new design will be among the most attractive children's playgrounds in Otrokovice," stated mayor Hana Večerková (ANO).
The reconstructed playground will feature several play zones organized by children's age and type of activities. "The centerpiece of the central area will be a large play structure in the shape of an airplane, complemented by a tower with a slide. There will also be ground trampolines, a balancing path, a turntable, a sandbox with an excavator, a ropeway for older children, and classic swings for the smallest. The project will also include new safe impact surfaces, park paths, benches, relaxation zones, a drinking fountain, bike racks, and landscaping adjustments," Vaculová added. Mature trees on the site will remain.
During the construction, the playground will remain closed and the construction site will be fenced off. "In relation to the construction, there will also be a temporary adjustment to movement in the park. Only part of the sidewalk leading from the fountain towards the parking lot will be closed; other park paths will remain accessible. The temporary traffic adjustment is designed to minimize the impact on park visitors' movement," the spokesperson added.
As a substitute for the temporarily closed playground near the clinic, parents with children can use, for example, the new children's playground on Bezručova Street. Other city playgrounds are available to them in the Přednádraží housing estate.
