London - British Minister for International Trade Anne-Marie Trevelyan will meet today in London with representatives of Ukraine and British companies to discuss how British firms can help rebuild critical infrastructure in Kyiv. This was reported by Reuters.

"The images of destruction in Kyiv are heartbreaking. Across Ukraine, thousands of homes, buildings, and critical infrastructure have been destroyed," the minister stated. "Our companies are in a strong position and can play a role in the long-term reconstruction of Ukraine," she added.

According to the Independent, British firms could take part in the construction of water, energy, and transport infrastructure, as well as digital services.

Manuela Gatto, director of Zaha Hadid Architects, said about the project that "in collaboration with (Ukrainian) talent, she wants to provide Ukraine with architecture that sets new standards in innovation, resilience, and efficiency."

According to estimates from the Kyiv School of Economics, the war has caused damage to Ukrainian infrastructure amounting to three trillion hryvnias (about 2.41 trillion crowns). Damaged or destroyed since the beginning of the war, according to this source, are among other things 656 healthcare centers, 1177 schools, 668 kindergartens, 20 shopping centers, nearly three thousand shops, and 28 oil depots.

According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), 4481 civilians have died in the war in Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, and over 5560 more civilians have been injured.
