The task was to construct a building for the local savings bank Kreissparkasse Göppingen in the small town of Süssens, located forty kilometers east of Stuttgart. The resulting corner building was not to create an overly disruptive impression in its surroundings, but at the same time, it was to avoid being dull and offer a well-thought-out internal structure. The height layout of the volumes is based on the positioning on the site: at the corner facing the street, the mass graduates in four stories, and the rear two-story part adapts its scale to the surrounding development of family homes. Similarly, the façade is divided by a vertical grid in a logical manner. Most openings are large-scale glazed. Some openings covering staircase and service areas are concealed behind perforated panels made of shell limestone. Unlike the heavy stone façades, the office spaces inside are flooded with light, white in color, and have glazed details.
