At the beginning of the week, the curator of the upcoming 16th Architecture Biennale in Venice, scheduled for 2018, was announced, and it will be the Irish firm Grafton Architects, founded in 1978 by architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara. Alejandro Aravena, the curator of last year's biennale, set a critical view for visitors on the global development of architecture. In a similar social spirit, the Dublin architects will continue to focus more on the quality of public and private spaces outside global metropolises. The architectural and pedagogical work of Grafton Architects guarantees high-quality craftsmanship that easily captures the attention of the emerging generation. Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara are no newcomers to the Venice Biennale. The architects have previously presented their work here several times and in 2012 won the Silver Lion for the installation “Architecture as New Geography”, which paid tribute to Paulo Mendes da Rocha. The sixteenth architecture biennale will take place from May 26 to November 25, 2018.
