Králicky Sněžník (Orlickoústecko) - On the Polish side of Králický Sněžník, a tourist observation tower should once again stand. The Polish border municipalities want to restore it at the site of the original viewing tower that was demolished in 1973. This was reported by ČTK based on the EIA information system for assessing the impact of the project on the environment. The construction proposal was developed in three variants, and ultimately a structure made of concrete up to 13 meters high with stone cladding was chosen, with the top of the tower largely being glass. Photovoltaic panels are to be installed on the building. The total height is to reach 33 meters. Stone from the original tower will also be used for the construction, and additional materials will mainly be transported to the mountain's peak by helicopter. Králický Sněžník has attracted the interest of tourists since the late 18th century. Construction of the observation tower began on April 17, 1895, and was completed on December 9, 1899. At the same time, a rather uncomfortable and very steep path leading from the mountain meadow Hala pod Śnieżnikiem to the top of the mountain was also built. In the post-war years, the observation tower deteriorated significantly due to acid rain and was demolished in 1973. Today, in the highest point of Králický Sněžník, there are still remnants of the tower in the form of a mound of rubble about three meters high.
