<Laying the cornerstone of the WTC railway station>

As Tuesday's Lower Manhattan reports - here - on September 7th, the cornerstone of the future train station by Santiago Calatrava was laid near the terrorist-destroyed WTC. Actual work on the $2.5 billion transportation hub will not begin until 2006 and is expected to be completed in 2009. The 150-foot tall (and 60 feet buried in the ground) sculpture, which will see a quarter of a million people passing through daily, is said by Calatrava to represent “the wings of new worlds, lives, and hope”.
