Project for the Extension of the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London

At the same time as the opening of this year's summer pavilion at the Serpentine Gallery by Peter Zumthor, a project by Zaha Hadid for the renovation and expansion of the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, located on the opposite side of the lake in Kensington Gardens, was also presented. A white undulating structure with an area of 900m², resembling a tent, is to be added to the former neoclassical military gunpowder store from the early 19th century, where, in addition to exhibitions of visual arts, music and theater performances, lectures, and film screenings will be organized under the direction of director Julia Peyton-Jones.
