The Austrian office Caramel Architekten has completed a villa for a family of three in the Viennese district of Rodaun. The project, titled "500 Quadratmeter Wohnzimmer" (500m² Living Room), sits on a plot of land measuring 500m². The house occupies more than half of the surrounding grassy area filled with trees (approximately 300m²). The designed three-story building aims to behave differently than typical family homes – the living area with the dining room on the ground floor is connected to the adjacent garden by a light white curtain swaying in the wind, creating a sense of a living room throughout the entire plot. Curves are also reflected in the built-in furniture, the pool, and the outdoor terrace. The rounded facade on the ground floor is made of semi-transparent polycarbonate elements, and a similarly light expression of the facade has been applied to the upper floor facade as well. The top floor features a study set within a grassy roof landscape that brings greenery back to the original garden.
