Berlin - Already 5,000 visitors have viewed the project Das Haus (the house) by Czech designer Lucie Koldová at the international interior design fair imm in Cologne. Koldová is the first Czech woman to have the opportunity to present her work in this way in the West German city.

The Cologne interior design fair annually requests one of the young personalities from the global design scene to build a model house according to their vision. This year, the choice fell on the thirty-five-year-old Czech. "Primarily her lighting design convinced us. It shows a perfect combination of materials such as wood, brass, or copper with the excellent quality of glass, which is blown to the limit of technical possibilities," explained last year the creative director of the fair, Dick Spierenburg.

In her house, which consists of several compact blocks, it is precisely the light that Koldová allows to shine. "In my house, light plays the main role and the furniture enhances the style of each room," she says about the model that spans an area of 180 square meters. "You won't find a kitchen here; I think there are many more pleasant things that a person can engage in at home," she also points out. A striking feature is, for example, a dressing room in a deep red color, which may resemble a sanctuary. The minimalist home office or a bathroom with clusters of dozens of lights hanging from the ceiling is also impressive.

In the house, which Koldová worked on for nine months, there are also pieces from Czech designers Liběna Rochová and Pavel Brejcha, jewelry by Eva Eisler, and artworks by František Vízner, Petr Dub, and Milan Houser.

Lucie Koldová graduated from the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague and currently works in the Czech capital. She focuses on everyday necessities, poetic gallery objects, and limited series, and also engages in conceptual design and urban space design.
