The city is very eager to fulfill similar wishes from locals. Increasing the attractiveness of public space, cooling and greening measures align with the strategic goals of Vienna's urban planning and have already become established practices here.
The winning implementation project, which succeeded in the international architectural competition, comes from the D\D Landschaftsplanung studio by renowned Austrian landscape architect Sabine Dessovic. Together with the Vienna architectural office Mostlikely, they presented a modern concept aptly named "Blühender Naschmarkt," or "Blooming Naschmarkt." The existing parking lot will flourish in the future thanks to the planting of colorful perennials, grassy beds, and 65 new trees. An active contribution to biodiversity in the area will also come from the rooftop garden at the newly created entrance to Naschmarkt from the west side. The garden will be freely accessible to the public and, besides providing food for insects, will offer a unique view of the entire market area.

A central element will thus be an area of approximately 250 m² with a flexibly controllable water feature.
