The Paris metro, with its fourteen lines and over two hundred kilometers, is the second busiest underground railway in Europe. Unlike the centralized transport of the past century, the newly emerging fifteenth circular line is set to offer faster movement through the outskirts of Paris. The fully automated train, which no longer requires a driver, is the first of a total of six new lines in the Grand Paris Expres project, which is scheduled for completion in 2030.
The Paris metro is inseparably linked with the Art Nouveau canopies by Hector Guimard, whose organically shaped stops are followed by the King Kong studio. The stop is located in the center of the ninety-thousand-population suburb of Vitry-Sur-Seine, to the south of Paris. The landscape of the nearby park transitions into the canopy and also extends into the underground, reminiscent of a cave. The undulating concrete roof features openings through which trees can grow and allow light to penetrate into the vestibule.
