This year's ArchiMyšl will also be marked by the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the inclusion of the Litomyšl castle complex on the UNESCO World Heritage List. During the first weekend of October and the following Monday (October 4–7, 2019), the traditional ArchiMyšl will take place. The program, full of architecture, will join the World Architecture Day and continue to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the inclusion of the Litomyšl castle complex on the UNESCO List. We can look forward to guided tours and interesting places open to the public in the city, including those that are not normally accessible throughout the year. The program includes numerous openings and subsequent exhibitions, a program for children, lectures for both professionals and the general public, and a traditional discussion "A Beer with Architects." This year, well-known names in the field of architecture have also been invited to Litomyšl. Architect Marek Štěpán is preparing an exhibition titled Atelier Štěpán / Touches at the Regional Museum in Litomyšl. Mr. architect will personally guide you through this exhibition as well as the Piarist church, which was reconstructed according to his design. Thanks to a newly established collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology, the imaginary list of ArchiMyšl will include more names of renowned architects. Among the invited guests will be architect Miroslav Šik, a Czech architect living and working in Switzerland, head of the AVU Architectural Design Studio, and young Czech architects from the ORA studio. The foreign architectural creativity will be represented by representatives of the Portuguese studio Fala. All of them will present short creative lectures, which will conclude with the presentation of the successful project of the Litomyšl Architectural Manual (LAM). The presentation of LAM will be conducted by Anna Waisserová and Martina Zuzaňáková, director of the City Gallery – the organization that is realizing the architectural manual for Litomyšl. The discussion "A Beer with Architects" will be moderated by the dean of the Faculty of Architecture at VUT Brno, Jan Kristek, who will invite architect Šik, architects from the ORA studio, and Fala studio to the discussion. The topic will be the frequently recurring and current modern architecture in the context of UNESCO monuments, as well as any place with a rich historical development. ArchiMyšl is intended for both lay and professional audiences across age groups. In addition to the mentioned exhibition by architect Štěpán, there will also be an exhibition of works by students from the Faculty of Architecture at VUT Brno and Czech Technical University in Prague at the castle brewery. In the Zdeněk Sklenář Gallery, the results of the joint workshop "What is a city?" will be exhibited, which involved FA VUT Brno and the Art Studio in Dolní Újezd along with artists from Litomyšl and the nearby region. In the Pakosta Gallery, you can see the exhibition by the Toman – Jemelka Atelier: Me and the Space for Art. A tradition of ArchiMyšl is guided tours. This year, the popular ride through the buildings of modern architecture in Litomyšl will not be missing. It will be led by city architect Zdeňka Vydrová. You can look forward to a construction-historical tour of the Litomyšl Castle "Behind the Story of the Castle" or a guided tour of the ExCitace exhibition in the church of the Finding of the Holy Cross with its author Daniel Pešta and curator Terezie Zemánková. For the first time this year, a guided tour of Litomyšl churches is being prepared, focusing on how the architecture of churches reflects the faith of the people of their time. Local pastors will guide you through this tour. You will also have the opportunity to visit the university library, for example. For children, there is a workshop led by architecture students titled "Let's Play Architects!" or "Architect of the Church." The second workshop, led by Vanda Štěpánová, is also open to adult participants. So, you are invited to this year's ArchiMyšl, follow the detailed program, and don't forget that for some events, reservations are recommended or even required. You can find where to register for your participation in the programs published before the event. A number of organizations have participated in preparing the program for the 8th edition of ArchiMyšl. Thanks go to the contributing organizations Castle Hill, Smetana House, the Regional Museum in Litomyšl, Litomyšl Castle, and of course to FA VUT Brno and CTU Prague. This event demonstrates that thanks to the collaboration of several entities, interesting projects can arise that have the potential to attract new visitors to our city.
