Architect Stolín proposes a renovation of the Jablonec Sun Baths

Jablonec nad Nisou - The reconstruction of the Sun Baths at the popular Mšeno dam is being prepared by the city hall in Jablonec. Due to the project, it is facing criticism, and therefore it offers people the opportunity to send in their comments. This was reported to ČTK by the city hall spokesperson Markéta Hozová.
"Because opinions vary and the city does not want to overlook them, it is possible to send comments until September 30 to the address [email protected]. All comments will be submitted for expert review to the advisory board of architects," Hozová stated.
The Sun Baths were established on the shore of the dam in 1927 and became a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. In addition to refreshments, it offers a sunbathing meadow enclosed by a fence and divided into women's and men's sections. Access is only allowed through changing rooms. However, the current state of the Sun Baths is in a desperate condition, and the city has been trying for several years to come up with a reconstruction plan.
A previous expensive project costing tens of millions did not succeed because the city was unsuccessful in applying for a grant. It is now coming up with another plan, which it describes as minimalist. "It is a lightweight structure made of wood and translucent walls, which will offer relaxation and privacy in the shade of a garden atrium and provide an even broader view of the dam from the upper terrace," Hozová outlined. The construction is expected to amount to millions of crowns.
According to the designer Petr Stolín, it should be an atrium house accessible from three sides. "The ground floor of the atrium is equipped with a small restaurant with facilities, and visitors will also have access to toilets, showers, and changing rooms. Within the colonnade, there is also space designated for outdoor covered seating," the architect stated. A model of his design will be displayed in the newly renovated ground floor of the Jablonec city hall until the end of September.
