Kutná Hora - The Kutná Hora brewery, which was abandoned by the Heineken company, is set to transform into a social and cultural center. Its spaces will be available for mothers with children as well as entrepreneurs, and several apartments will also be created within. This is according to a redevelopment study created by architect David Vávra. Jana Mišutková from the Kutná Hora city hall informed ČTK about this. In the front part of the area, there will be a microbrewery with an outdoor restaurant and a center for mothers with children. A large courtyard is to be preserved as a space for cultural events and as a parking lot. In the main baroque building of the brewery, Vávra proposes to build a hostel, and in the adjoining brewing building, he plans to maintain the original layout and establish a wellness center with a café. In the space of the historic malt house and cellars, a children's entertainment center will be created. In the adjacent building, several apartments are to be developed, primarily for employees of the facilities that are to operate in the brewery. The former dining hall and storages are expected to be utilized as workshops and businesses for entrepreneurs, and they may potentially be expanded, for example, into a marketplace for regional products. Mayor Ivo Šanc (Hope for Kutná Hora) has already stated that part of the work should be financed by the city and part by entrepreneurs. However, the city has not yet disclosed estimates of costs or when construction will begin. Actor and architecture promoter Vávra has been working on the study since 2011. During this time, he visited Kutná Hora several times and agreed with city representatives that the redevelopment of the brewery should not be overly expensive or complicated and should not disrupt the historical character of the area. Heineken ceased production in Kutná Hora two years ago, as brewing Dačický beer in the brewery was not profitable for them, and moved the operation to Velké Březno. Since then, the city hall has been looking for a use for the area. Last summer, an alternative music festival named Creepy Teepee was held within the brewery's walls. Vávra, known to most people from the theater Sklep, films, and television sketches, has a wide range of work as an architect - from the interiors of restaurants and bars to new family home constructions and the redevelopment of larger buildings. Recently, he designed an unrealized reconstruction of the Kladno theater and the library of the city of Hradec Králové, which is being created from the redevelopment of the Vertex factory.
