Kladno - A project is being developed for a new outdoor stage for the Kladno theatre, which is being collaboratively worked on by architects David Vávra and Karel Albrecht. It will be completed next year. The city plans to apply for a building permit by the end of this June, said Vít Heral, spokesperson for the Kladno city hall, in response to a query from ČTK.

The stage will be created by modifying the current area adjacent to the theatre. "The capacity will be increased from the current 130 (uncovered seats) to about 250 seats," described Heral. According to him, despite all efforts to complete the stage as soon as possible, the city leadership expects that work on the site will not begin until next year.

According to the spokesperson, Vávra has brought some of his ideas into the project. The city approached him because he is the author of the design for the complete reconstruction of the Kladno theatre, which was completed in 2016. The repair took five years due to complications with the tender and the construction company, costing approximately 160 million crowns, most of which was covered by a European grant. Another approximately 15 million was spent on equipment.

The Kladno City Theatre was opened in 1912 and is one of the oldest Czech drama theatres. It is located on Divadelní Street in the city center. Its repertoire regularly includes both drama and musical productions, classical dramas, and contemporary plays in Czech premieres.
