Kuřim - Less than two years after the start of construction, the newly renovated bus station in Kuřim, in the Brno region, was officially opened today. The complete reconstruction, which included the expansion of the number of platforms, the construction of roofing, parking lots, a camera system, and the repair of roads and sidewalks, cost 131 million crowns. The municipality announced this in a press release.

"Four platforms are covered and are now accessible with dry feet from the station building. The platforms are equipped with modern energy-efficient lighting, a clear information system, and elegant furniture, which includes WIFI points and mobile phone charging stations. A camera system with recording operates to oversee the terminal's functioning," said the mayor of Kuřim, Drago Sukalovský (Kuřim Civic League).

The bus station also includes a parking lot with 43 spaces for cars, three Kiss&Ride spaces, and bus stands. Cyclists can utilize 24 lockable bike boxes, half of which also allow for electric bike charging. A service stand with tools and a bike washer is also prepared for them. People can also use the sanitary facilities at the bus station, which includes two toilets, a shower, and a changing table.

The reconstruction of the bus station is part of the transformation of the entire transportation terminal in the city with 11,000 inhabitants. In 2018, the Railway Administration completed the reconstruction of the train station and the station building, which the city followed up on in the autumn of 2021 with the renovation of the bus station.

With the beginning of the holidays, the final phase will now start, which includes the reconstruction and revitalization of the park near the station. "The existing publicly accessible park area will be modified, greenery will be planted, paths and solid surfaces will be repaired, and a water fountain will be available. The project also includes the installation of furniture, wooden platforms, park chairs, and the creation of a workout area," added Sukalovský.

The revitalization of the station park will cost 5.5 million crowns, and the city has received a grant of 4.6 million crowns from Norwegian funds.
