Bruntál - The bus station in Bruntál is set to be transformed into a modern transportation terminal next year, which will directly connect to the train station. The reconstruction will begin in March and is expected to be completed a year later in April. The project costs will reach nearly 75 million crowns, with over 63 million covered by European subsidies, and the rest paid by the city. This was reported by Michal Sobek, spokesperson for the Regional Council of Moravian-Silesian Region, which distributes European funds.

"Over a thousand people daily, who transfer and pass through here, deserve the new solution. The terminal will bring safety, better and functional transfers, and it will also be aesthetically interesting," said Mayor Petr Rys. According to him, the project will finally bring a representative appearance to this significant entry point into the city.
The building will have the shape of a curved wing. Under the roof, there will be a waiting area with refreshments and an information center. The terminal will feature an automatic information system with two departure boards. New boarding islands and communication routes will be created, and a parking lot for seventy cars and a relaxation zone will be established next to the terminal. There will also be a shelter for bicycles and a facility with restrooms.
"Before the curved wing rises, the current roofing of the platforms and the old train station building will be demolished," Sobek stated. During the construction works, the bus station will be out of operation, and transportation services will be provided by nearby stops.
New transportation terminals will also be built in other cities of the Moravian-Silesian Region in the foreseeable future. "The project for the transportation terminal in Studénka is currently under evaluation. We also have 190 million crowns allocated for new terminals in Třinec and Havířov, which the cities are addressing together with Czech Railways," said David Sventek, Director of the Regional Council of Moravian-Silesian Region.
The council is responsible for managing approximately 19 billion crowns from European funds in the Moravian-Silesian Region between 2007 and 2013. So far, they have supported over 700 projects in transportation infrastructure, public services, tourism, or brownfield regeneration with more than 16 billion crowns.
