Brno - Brno-Slatina wants to build a new town hall in the next election period, similar to other districts. Currently, the office is divided into two buildings located several hundred meters apart, and the main town hall building is on the edge of the district near the exit to Šlapanice. The town hall has a study prepared for the new facility. According to it, the missing cultural hall should also fit inside, Deputy Mayor Jiří Ides (ČSSD) said to reporters today. In Slatina, it was originally considered that a new center of the district with the town hall could be established in the development zone of the former barracks. The area was acquired by Brno from the state and is managed by a company called Jižní centrum. However, the idea of commercial use won out, and now a private company is beginning to build a new neighborhood with apartments there. "In my opinion, there is currently no possibility to negotiate about the location of the new town hall there," Ides said. Therefore, they changed the plans for the town hall. They want to build the new administrative center of the district at Přemyslová Square, where the town hall's detached office operates in one building. The facility, which Ides humorously compared to a barn, should be demolished. Construction should start on the cleared land. According to the Deputy Mayor, it is large enough to accommodate the planned building. The study does not yet mention estimated costs. "If we managed to start within two or three years, we would be very happy because we feel the need not only to unify the departments and have the town hall in the center, but also to build a hall," he stated. The problem with the town hall and the absence of a hall is faced by many city districts in Brno. This also concerns Kohoutovice and Starý Lískovec, for example. There, representatives meet in a fire station in a room that resembles a school classroom.
