Brno – Brno plans to purchase the unfinished railway polyclinic in the Štýřice district. The Railway Administration, as the owner, has appraised the price at 49.6 million crowns in a valuation report. The city will demolish the polyclinic and build a park, as well as implement flood protection measures. This was stated in a press release by the deputy mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL).

Today, the council recommended that the representatives approve the purchase of the land. The extensive site is considered a ruin by the city, as many buildings are only partially constructed, such as the polyclinic, garages, or auto shops. It also includes an undeveloped plot of land. Before further development, the city plans to demolish and remediate the land.

Brno wanted to acquire the land as early as 2015, but the planned privatization did not receive support from the Ministry of Finance at that time. However, the legislation has changed, making privatization impossible, and the city must purchase the land. If the representatives approve the purchase, the government must also approve the sale. "An important part of the city's plans concerning the area are the flood protection measures on the Svratka River and the revitalization of the valley stream in the Štýřice waterfront area. In the future, recreational greenery should be developed on the abandoned land, which will be part of a local biocenter under protection and will connect to the nearby bike path leading to Modřice, the allotment garden colony, and the river," Hladík stated.

According to him, the unfinished polyclinic will be demolished, and a park will be created on its site. "The area of the unfinished railway polyclinic also overlaps with the planned reconstruction of the Brno Railway Node. A new road that will connect Pražákova Street and Rosická will be built in the area, along with a sidewalk and public lighting. A tram track with a loop and technological equipment will also be created. Thanks to these changes, the area will be prepared for further urban development in southern Brno," said councilman for property Róbert Čuma (Pirates). Future plans also include the establishment of shops and services.
