Brno - Brno plans to build a social services complex in the Kociánka area. Today, the councilors approved the allocation of 60 million crowns for project preparation. The city plans to construct senior homes, homes with care services, as well as a special regime, along with apartment buildings. The estimated costs for building the houses are about half a billion crowns, said Deputy Mayor Oliver Pospíšil (ČSSD) to journalists.
Project preparation is scheduled for the years 2019 to 2022. According to Pospíšil, some documents will be ready earlier. The construction is then set to take place in the following years. According to the plans, the first phase will feature a pavilion for senior citizens with 160 places, two homes with care services, a smaller home with a special regime for individuals with severe autism spectrum disorders, as well as an extension of the existing senior home, which will increase the capacity by another 180 beds.
In the second phase, the construction of three four-story apartment buildings is planned. Part of the land is intended for the construction of the first children's hospice in the Czech Republic, which an organization called Dům pro Julii intends to build in agreement with the city. The Kociánka center, which helps disabled children and adults, is already functioning in the area.
The city is also considering connecting the Kociánka area with the Lesná area by building a new bridge. Currently, there is only one road leading to Kociánka. The estimated costs for the bridge are around 30 million.
Brno has about a thousand apartments for seniors in homes with care services and approximately 2000 beds in senior homes. However, it still records hundreds of applications for placement in these facilities.
