Brno will sell land for the construction of 2000 apartments in the Kamechy area

Brno - Up to 2000 new apartments are set to be built in the coming years in the Kamechy area between the Brno districts of Bystrc and Žebětín. The city council approved the sale of nearly 5000 square meters of land to the development company Jet Imperia for more than eight million crowns at its last meeting. If the agreement is also approved by the council, the companies can start construction work.
Residential construction has been in preparation at the site since 2003, Deputy Mayor Radomír Jonáš told reporters today. The entire Kamechy area, which has not yet been developed, has been divided into 48 sectors. The contract approved by the council now concerns only ten of them. Therefore, even more apartments are likely to be built in the coming years behind the Bystrc housing estate.
The city of Brno has committed to building a road at its own expense that will connect Kamechy to the existing street network. "The road will be completed by June 2007," Jonáš stated.
