Broumov (Náchod Region) - The Broumov Town Hall has commissioned the preparation of project documentation for the construction of the Sports Center Brewery Broumov. The city aims to obtain a building permit for the sports complex located in the former municipal brewery during the next year, after which the city will attempt to secure a necessary grant for the construction, estimated at around 200 million crowns. This was stated by Broumov's mayor Libuše Růčková. "We should have the building permit by September 2009, and the start of the actual construction will depend on obtaining funds from the European Union, as construction is not possible from the city's resources," Růčková said. The city plans to carry out the costly project in phases. "In the former brewery, there should be an underground parking lot, a 25-meter long swimming pool with four lanes, and a gym," the mayor stated. According to the project, there could also be an indoor ice rink in the former lager cellars. Broumov currently lacks both an indoor pool and an outdoor swimming area, and its residents travel to surrounding towns for swimming. "We decided that instead of building an outdoor swimming area, it would be better to create an indoor pool that would be in operation all year round," Růčková added.
