The Ministry of Culture Award will be received by Miroslav Masák this year

Prague - This year's laureate of the State Prize for Literature is the writer Daniela Hodrová. The expert jury appreciated not only her latest novel "Vyvolávání" but also her previous literary work. The State Prize for Translational Work was awarded to Shakespeare expert Martin Hilský. In addition to the State Prizes, the names of this year's laureates of the Ministry of Culture Awards for contributions to theater, music, visual arts, architecture, and the Awards of the Ministry of Culture for contributions to cinematography and audiovisual works were also announced today at the Nostický Palace.
The Ministry of Culture Award for contribution to theater is awarded to a dancer for the very first time this year. Choreographer Jiří Kylián received the title for "long-term merits in the development of dance art on a global scale and for consistent support of Czech dance." Music journalist and popularizer of jazz music in the Czech Republic Lubomír Dorůžka was recognized for his contribution to the Czech music scene, the visual arts category was dominated by Leoš Válka, who was commended by the judges for establishing the DOX Contemporary Art Center in Holešovice. Architect Miroslav Masák was also honored for his lifetime work, and the cinematography and audiovisual category was led by Jan Němec and in memoriam by composer Zdeněk Liška.
The ceremonial award presentation by Minister of Culture Jiří Besser will take place on Thursday evening at a ceremony at the National Theatre.
