Czech Brod – Czech Brod in the Kolín region could start constructing a new kindergarten with five classes for 132 children on Kollárová Street next year. The new building, which will replace the inadequate prefabricated structure of the current kindergarten from 1976, is initially estimated to cost nearly 157 million crowns. Half of the costs will be covered by the city from a grant from the Ministry of the Environment, city mayor Tomáš Klinecký (Better Brod) said today to ČTK.
According to the mayor, the city had been looking for a suitable grant title for a long time, and confirmation of the grant from the ministry was received today. The final costs will arise from the tender process. "This was the third attempt to obtain the grant. If everything goes well, the execution documentation should be completed by summer, and construction could begin next spring, with completion in the 2026 to 2027 school year," Klinecký said.
The modern kindergarten will be designed by the company MS architects. The number of children in the kindergarten will increase by 36. The complex will feature three two-story buildings connected by a shared glass atrium with a green roof. There are plans for a large garden with children's playgrounds divided into several sections.
The city is also preparing to launch another major educational investment, which is the construction of the first phase of a cluster school. This will be created by expanding a pavilion with 13 classrooms at the school on Žitomířská Street. The city, which is home to about 7,400 people, is thus preparing for an increase in the number of children. According to a recently published study commissioned by the Central Bohemia Region, the Czech Brod region is expected to see the largest increase in the population in the region by 2050.
