Jevíčko – The town of Jevíčko in the Svitavy region wants to restore the leisure complex Žlíbek with a sports hall and swimming pool. The complex, which dates back to the First Republic, was purchased by the town in 2024 from TJ Sokol. The town now has two architectural studies available, one of which will be selected at the September municipal council meeting, after which the preparation of project documentation will begin. This was stated by Mayor Dušan Pávek (Our Jevíčko).

"Sokol allocated minimal funds for it, and more or less, if there were resources, they performed basic maintenance," said Pávek. The town purchased the complex two years ago for 3.4 million crowns, which was the price of the land at that time. The buildings were handed over to the town free of charge by agreement.

The biggest problem now is with the natural swimming pool, as the quality of the water is deteriorating. According to the mayor, the reason is the low flow of the Žlíbecký stream, which almost dries up in dry periods, so the water in the reservoir is insufficiently renewed. Although the town has a borehole nearby, it is not sufficient for ongoing water replenishment. "It is a First Republic swimming pool from the 1930s. We wanted to preserve that First Republic aspect. There is a beautiful wooden gazebo there, still original," said the mayor.

The councilors will face a decision in September regarding which study to select. "One study is more modest and respects the existing building of the sports hall, focusing mainly on its repair. The second study is more construction-intensive, considering extensions and adjustments to some parts of the building and also the possibility of future expansion of the complex, perhaps with additional sports facilities or a campsite. Personally, I lean towards the simpler study because it was more realistic," said Pávek.

The more modest variant was created by the studio Tamti Architekti. The study proposes transforming the swimming pool into a natural biotope with biological water treatment without chemicals. It plans to clean the reservoir, modify the banks, provide new changing rooms, showers, and toilets, and restore the historic wooden gazebo. The sports hall is also to be modernized, receiving new insulation, a roof, heating, and air conditioning. New changing rooms, a gym, wellness facilities, and storage spaces are to be created. The asphalt court, tennis courts, and surrounding greenery are to be modified. The study includes barrier-free access, new furniture, and an expansion of parking spaces.
