Brno - The commercial-industrial area at the site of the former Brno Skrobárny will expand to include the adjacent former slaughterhouse. The area will increase by 1.5 hectares to 13 hectares. The development company CTP Invest will build two buildings with offices, retail spaces, and additional infrastructure for the zone. The investment will reach approximately 400 million crowns, said Jiří Hořčica, the company's media representative, to ČTK today. The total costs of the project will amount to 2.5 billion Kč. CTP has already invested over nine billion Kč in Brno since 1999. They are building, for example, the Spielberk Office administrative center, and have also developed an industrial zone in Modřice near Brno as well as part of the Černovická terasa industrial zone. They are now also responsible for starting a two-hundred-hectare zone in nearby Šlapanice. They are reportedly looking for more opportunities. In the case of Skrobárny, for which the first part is expected to open shortly, CTP is mainly relying on the good location of the area. Nearby is the Zvonařka bus station and a plot where a new train station is planned to be built according to city plans. To the south of the center, the Vaňkovka shopping gallery has recently been created, and the zoning plan there includes further construction. It's not far to the other side of the city to the highway connector either. CTBoxes have already been built on part of the land. The buildings, covering 450 square meters, combine offices, warehouses, and social facilities according to the specific needs of individual clients. The developer intends to offer them mainly to local companies. CTP will remodel the slaughterhouse area throughout 2008.
