Brno - Four monuments in the South Moravian Region will receive tens of millions of crowns for repairs from European funds. The town of Moravský Krumlov will use the funding to restore the chateau where the Slav Epic was previously housed. Money is also going to Uherčice and Předklášteří, according to the list of supported projects published by the Ministry for Regional Development.

The castles in Moravský Krumlov and Uherčice have been chronically underfunded, and their owners lacked the funds for more extensive repairs. The town of Moravský Krumlov will receive 94 million crowns from European funds, just like the heritage conservationists for the repairs of Uherčice Castle.

Moravský Krumlov acquired the castle at an auction; prior to that, it was owned by Reality MK, a subsidiary of the Bratislava-based Incheba. The medieval residence above the historic town was established in the 12th century, with its current appearance predominantly Renaissance from the 16th century. After World War II, the chateau was nationalized. Initially, it was the seat of official offices, then the army used the chateau, and later various enterprises were housed there. The railway construction company in Brno built a dormitory, classrooms, and apprentice workshops here. This state lasted until 1991.

Additional funds will go to church owners. Almost 40 million crowns will be allocated for the restoration of the church in Předklášteří near Tišnov, and 11 million crowns will be used to make the gardens on Brno's Petrov accessible, which are owned by the Brno bishopric.

A total of 88 applicants sought a grant from the Integrated Regional Operational Program. Just under half of them will receive funds. The total amount will be 3.079 billion crowns. The South Bohemian Region has the most supported projects, ten in total. The South Moravian Region ranks second with seven projects.
