Brno – Near the center of Brno, the construction of the residential block New America with 243 apartments will begin in the autumn. Four buildings will be built by the development company Crestyl, which is investing over two billion crowns into the project at the intersection of Nové Sady and Úzká streets. The completion of the block, which borders the historical building Malá Amerika, is planned for mid-2029, the developer announced today in a press release.
Crestyl is also working on the project New Dornych, located a few hundred meters away, which is rising on the site of the former brutalist department store Prior near Brno's main train station. "The New America project is just a few minutes' walk from the future Dornych, and its residents will be able to immediately use all the new services, restaurants, and shops," said Viktor Peška, the sales director of the Crestyl group.
The residential block will consist of four buildings that, according to the authors, draw inspiration from the architecture of American New York. "From the industrial building with battlements, which becomes a landmark with an unforgettable view of Petrov and refers to the atmosphere of Malá Amerika, to the corner building with Art Deco elements, and finally to the structure in the style of New York industrial with face brick and distinctive steel details," Peška explained.
Last year, 1,405 new apartments were sold in Brno, the highest number since 2016. The average asking price rose by 11 percent year-on-year to over 145,000 crowns per square meter. This is according to a regular analysis published this January by the company Trikaya.
