Brno - The developer group T.E is preparing to build 700 apartments and commercial spaces in Brno's Starý Lískovec. They have purchased a 2.5-hectare plot of land between Jihlavská, Osová, and Labská streets. Leisure areas are also expected to be created, the developer announced in a press release. In response to a query from ČTK, the company stated that they would like to start construction in three to four years, and the construction is expected to last two to three years. The area is part of a development zone called the Western Gate.
To the south, the plot borders a housing estate, and to the north, behind Jihlavská street, there is an office and commercial complex, a university campus, and a teaching hospital. The plot itself is surrounded by busy roads. On one side, there is a highway feeder road, on another side a four-lane bypass, and on another a busy Osová street, through which thousands of cars pass daily.
"Given the size and location of the land, we see great potential in this project to become a new, vibrant part of the city. In addition to the construction of apartments, which have been insufficiently available in Brno for a long time, we would also like to create a broad civic infrastructure with green spaces and a variety of other functions," said T.E group partner Petr Teplý.
The city is also planning to develop apartments on its land nearby. "We welcome and support the developer's initiative. This area has considerable potential. An extended tram line to the university campus will run through the area. For this reason, we believe that this location will develop rapidly and become an excellent place to live," said Michal Sedláček, director of the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno.
So far, the developer has carried out smaller projects, primarily in Prague.
