Litomyšl

Litomyšl - Extensive renovations of the castle courtyard in Litomyšl, funded by European grants, will extend into next year. Most of the 11 buildings are already repaired and will be ceremoniously handed over to the city hall in September. There is still a part of the extension of the Piarist college to be completed.
"The work was delayed due to archaeological finds," stated Mayor Michal Kortyš. According to him, however, the disbursement of the grant is not at risk; the deadline for the completion of the project has been extended to the middle of next year. Originally, everything was supposed to be finished by 2013.
For the project of revitalizing the castle hill, the city received a grant of 400 million crowns from the Integrated Operational Program. Other non-eligible costs, such as equipping the carriage house or the apartment above Bedřich Smetana's birthplace, and additional work must be paid for by the city hall. The 100% grant will cover the repairs and restoration work on the first courtyard, brewery, horse stable, riding hall, upper courtyard, carriage house, stables, park, Piarist college, Piarist church, and courtyard. The city will also use European funds for cultural and exhibition projects related to the castle hill and for their promotion.
The city hall plans a ceremonial handover of the keys to the 11 buildings from the construction company back to the city on September 14. The event will also include guided tours of the repaired monuments.
