Prague - The absolute winner of the House of the Year 2018 poll is the "Villa above the waterfall" on the outskirts of Prague. The results were announced this evening by the organizers from the magazine Můj dům. The architect of the villa located in the valley of the Lysolajský Creek is Michal Sluka. The building was created under challenging terrain conditions, making it similar to one of the most famous houses in the world, the American Fallingwater.

The winning building has no neighbors except for a gardening colony. It consists of two perpendicular blocks, placed on a massive stone plinth. Viewed from above, the composition takes the shape of an asymmetrical cross. The large mass of the house is visually lightened by large free overhangs, glass surfaces, and terraces. The villa is open to all sides with free passages and views.

The winner of the competition and the individual categories are determined by readers voting on the magazine's website or by sending a text message. In addition to the readers, a professional jury also selected the winners. Only houses that were presented in the magazine in 2017 were included in the nomination.
