Brno - The management of the Faculty Hospital in Brno is preparing the construction of several pavilions worth more than two billion crowns in the coming years. The hospital director, Ivo Rovný, and the investment deputy, Radoslav Basel, stated this today at a meeting with journalists. In addition to already started constructions, plans include a new pavilion for child psychiatry, outpatient hematology-oncology care, treatment for highly dangerous diseases, and a separate building for administration. The costs of constructing individual buildings range from 120 million to nearly one billion crowns.

The hospital has already begun constructing a new institutional pharmacy, a modular building for a children's group, and is preparing to build a pavilion for the Clinic of Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Neonatology, as well as a parking house near the Children's Hospital in Černá Pole.

"We plan to build a new pavilion for child psychiatry in the Bohunice complex of the hospital. The building should be two stories high, with the inpatient part on the second floor. The increase in child psychiatric diseases is concerning, and we are trying to prepare to help children by increasing the care capacity in our hospital," said Rovný. The hospital has completed a feasibility study and assumes that the construction of the new pavilion will cost over 300 million crowns.

The construction of the pavilion for comprehensive outpatient hematology-oncology care, which includes outpatient clinics and day-care units and aims to reduce waiting times and increase care capacity, is expected to cost nearly one billion crowns.

The hospital management would also like to build a separate pavilion for the treatment of highly dangerous or contagious diseases and a new administrative building by 2030. "The fact that administrative offices are spread out in different buildings across the hospital complex hampers the ability to coordinate the development of healthcare operations, and the individual departments additionally occupy space that could be used differently. Therefore, we would like to move all administrative offices to a separate building," added investment deputy Basel. The construction of the building is expected to cost up to 400 million crowns and should be divided into several phases.

Two additional buildings are intended to enhance the comfort of patients and staff. A parking house estimated at half a billion crowns, with approximately 800 parking spaces, is to be built for FN Brno by the city firm Brněnské komunikace, although the hospital and city management must find the optimal form of land exchange between state and municipal properties. A unified entrance building to the hospital is then expected to assist with patient orientation, providing a central place for registration and directing patients, comfortable facilities, and a new retail pharmacy. The construction of the unified entrance is expected to cost 169 million crowns, and the hospital has so far developed an investment plan and is planning to commission a feasibility study.
