Hradec Králové - Hradec Králové has postponed the deadline for submitting offers for the six hundred million crown tender for the construction of a new football stadium for the fifth time. The competition has thus incurred more than a month's delay. Instead of the originally planned August 15, the new deadline is now September 20. After the fourth postponement, the submission deadline was September 9. This was discovered today by ČTK from the profile of the city of Hradec Králové's contracting authority.

The postponement of the submission deadline was requested due to inquiries from applicants regarding the project documentation and subsequent partial changes in the documentation. When supplementary questions arise, the contracting authority must extend the deadline for submitting offers so that all potential interested parties in the construction can respond to the additional information regarding the tender documentation.

Last week, the city hall stated that for such a large and complex construction project, it is common for construction firms to inquire intensively about the tender documentation or the contract for work. So far, the city has issued over 190 explanations, changes, or supplements related to the tender.

The current tender is the third in a row, and the city announced it on July 9. The city would like to have a construction company selected by winter. The construction period is expected to be 18 months.

The stadium, which has been in preparation for more than 15 years, is to be built on the site of an unsuitable and partially demolished multi-sport stadium from 1960. The stadium will serve as a facility for the second league club FC Hradec Králové, which will have to play elsewhere during the construction.

The city has estimated the expected cost of the stadium at 550 million crowns. The city council has set a maximum non-exceedable amount for submitting offers at 605 million crowns. Including VAT, the maximum construction price could reach approximately 740 million. This will be the largest investment for the city in recent years.

The stadium should accommodate 10,000 spectators. Its characteristic lighting with four so-called "lollipops" will be preserved, albeit in a modernized form. In the fall of 2017, the city had the western stand demolished, leaving only an earthen embankment. The only structure remaining from the current stadium will be the eastern stand, which will serve as a facility for training grounds.
