Hradec Králové - The further procedure of the city of Hradec Králové regarding the prolonged construction of the new football stadium should be clearer in February next year. At the February meeting of the city council, Deputy Mayor for Investments Jiří Bláha (ODS) is expected to present possible solution variants. This was revealed during today's city council meeting. The councilors also recommended that the councilors cancel the current third tender for the construction of the stadium.

The city received one bid for the tender, which, however, exceeded the maximum price set by the city at 605 million crowns excluding VAT. The only interested party offered to build the stadium for 770 million crowns excluding VAT. The city thus has no other option but to cancel the tender.

"It is not in our interest to wash our hands of it and leave an under-construction project. The situation needs to be resolved; we have several options for how to proceed. We will now try to modify the existing tender documentation,” said Deputy Bláha.

The city has been preparing the construction of the arena on the site of the inadequate multi-sport stadium for over 15 years. Last year, the city announced two tenders for the stadium but canceled both. After canceling the last tender last November, the new ruling coalition of ANO, ODS, and Změna pro Hradec had two assessments prepared to evaluate the project, construction costs, and recalculation of the load-bearing structure. The project documentation has been revised by the designer.

The third tender included a stadium with four stands and a lawn. According to the city hall, the estimated price also included an increase due to rising construction costs in recent years. The city has already allocated funds for the construction in its budget for the coming years.

The stadium is expected to accommodate 10,000 spectators. The typical lighting with four so-called 'lollipops' is to be preserved, albeit in a modernized form. In the autumn of 2017, the city had the western stand demolished, leaving only an earthen mound. The only part of the current stadium that is to remain is the eastern stand, which will serve as facilities for the training fields.
