Hradec Králové - The city of Hradec Králové today signed a contract with the company SMP CZ, which will build a bridge over the Elbe near the Aldis congress center for 133.7 million crowns without VAT. However, construction work will not begin until the fall of 2021, as work on completing the regional headquarters of Československá obchodní banka will continue in the construction area until then. This was communicated to ČTK by representatives of the city hall.
For the bridge, the city expects to draw a grant of up to 91 million crowns.
The construction of the bridge at Aldis is closely related to the construction of the regional center of ČSOB, which has been developing in the area since 2018. The company can start with the bridge once the builders finish work on the ČSOB building, which is currently in the rough construction phase.
In the original agreement with ČSOB, the city committed to building the bridge by this April under a penalty of 15 million crowns, which did not happen. However, the city hall averted the threat of a fine after reaching an agreement with the bank to extend the deadline by more than three years.
The city has been preparing the construction of the bridge in the Aldis area since 2003. The company SMP CZ from the French group Vinci emerged from the fourth tender. A peculiarity of the proposed bridge is that it is to be built using an unusual technology of special high-strength concrete.
