Hradec Hospital opened a new lung pavilion for 85 million

Hradec Králové - The Faculty Hospital in Hradec Králové has completed the most significant investment project of this year and today opened the newly reconstructed pulmonary pavilion, which was created by renovating the former building of the gerontometabolic clinic. The total costs climbed to 85 million crowns, said the hospital's deputy technical director Josef Židů to ČTK.
    "The pavilion was reconstructed for the needs of the pulmonary clinic and also for part of the internal specialties, which we could not place in the pavilion for internal specialties completed in 2004," Židů said.
    Construction work on the renovated pavilion began last September, and the costs for the renovations reached 69 million crowns. An additional five million crowns were needed for investments in healthcare technology, and the hospital spent 11 million crowns on furnishing the building with furniture and other equipment. "The new pavilion offers 90 standard beds and 12 places in intensive care units," said Židů.
    In the premises of the faculty hospital, builders also worked on several smaller renovations this year, repairing for example the transfusion station and the surgical pavilion. "Another significant building that we want to start at the beginning of next year will be the construction of a pavilion for the psychiatric clinic, which currently operates under unsatisfactory conditions," Židů stated. According to him, costs are expected to be around 180 million crowns, and the construction should be completed in 2008.
    The Hradec Králové Faculty Hospital has completed several significant buildings in recent years; for example, in July 2004, people could for the first time view the interiors of the newly completed pavilion for internal specialties, the construction and furnishing of which cost over 672 million crowns. The new building will have 150 standard beds and an additional four dozen intensive care beds. The year before, it opened a renovated maternity hospital for 145 million crowns. The Faculty Hospital in Hradec Králové offers patients more than 1,500 beds across approximately 20 clinics, with 600,000 outpatient visits each year.
